A few of my favourite things and what I've been enjoying in lockdown

As restrictions aren’t fully eased and coronavirus is still very much a thing, I find myself finding happiness in the small things. In this post I am going to share with you what I’ve been enjoying over the last few months and how I’ve been spending my time in lockdown.

First up let’s talk exercise. At the beginning of the year, I decided I wanted to start exercising more. I thought with everything going on it would be good to have something to focus on and give me some motivation. So, I started yoga. My lovely friend Amie recommended a YouTube channel that she uses, and I have been loving it. I have found that I prefer to do yoga at night sometimes if I have had a busy day of uni work as it instantly relaxes me. I have also found that it is great for headaches. I am the type of person prone to headaches even if I get slightly stressed or run down so doing yoga, yoga for headaches in particular, has helped so much with this. Another form of exercise I have been doing is dance workouts. There is a girl on YouTube who I use for this and she is great. She does single song workouts or full playlist ones. I have been loving doing the Taylor Swift Fearless album one and the Mamma Mia ones especially. What I love about doing these is that they are really fun to do and are such a mood booster and are actually great exercise so it’s a win win.

Next let’s talk about what I’ve been watching. To be honest there hasn’t been many good series to get into recently however at the start of the year Netflix finally added The Office US so of course I had to watch through it for the third time. If you haven’t watched this all the way through, I highly recommend, it is such an easy watch and something I can always count on to cheer me up. Once I finished this I decided to watch Parks and Recreation. This is a very similar format to The Office so I knew I would enjoy it, but I have really got into it. It’s so funny and I love the main character, Leslie. Another series I watched recently was Ginny and Georgia on Netflix. Again, Amie recommended this to me, and I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it at first but coming of age teen dramas are such a guilty pleasure of mine. It was so much more than that though, I won’t give anything away but if you haven’t already you should definitely give it a watch.

Now let’s talk books. Reading has been something I have loved doing throughout this whole pandemic and to be honest I’m not sure what I would’ve done without it. So, what have I been reading? One book that I recently finished was one I actually got for free from a charity shop and it was so good. The book is called ‘The Keeper of Lost Things’ and I think I finished this in less than a week which is so unlike me (I am a slow reader). Another book that springs to mind is ‘Little Women’. I LOVED this book. The story, the characters, the time period, everything about it I loved. I am still yet to watch the film but I am saving it for after my deadline so I can really enjoy it and I can’t wait. One book that I recently finished is ‘Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan’. I actually ordered this book way before that interview but didn’t end up reading it until afterwards. As a bit of a royalist (I’m obsessed with The Crown) I was very intrigued to read this book and it definitely lived up to my expectations. If you’re interested in the whole Harry and Meghan situation or fancy learning about what happens within the Royal Family I definitely recommend, of course you have to take these things with a pinch of salt, but it is still an interesting read.

So, that’s some things I’ve been enjoying over the past few months. Thanks for reading!
