One thing I have spent more time on recently is my skin. Since having bad skin during my secondary school years (thanks GCSE’s), my skin has never fully recovered. But after talking to my lovely friend Amie about all things skincare I have finally built a skincare routine I am happy with. My routine is by no means perfect and will definitely change as my skin changes but for now this is what I have been using.

Cleanser

For cleanser, the past couple of years I had been using the Body Shop Tea Tree cleanser. As I mentioned when I left school my skin was pretty bad, especially on my cheeks, and this cleanser was a life saver. I paired it with the toner and the moisturiser from the same collection and it transformed my skin. After using this for a year or so however, I was ready to move onto something else now my skin had improved. I have more recently been using the CereVe Hydrating Cleanser which I purchased from Look Fantastic and so far, I am loving it.

Serum/toners

Something I have been using religiously for the past few months is The Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc High Strength Vitamin and Mineral Blemish Formula. I know this may sound a little scary and when I kept seeing it on Tik Tok and Instagram it intimidated me a little, but I love it. I initially bought it to try and get rid of some acne scarring I have on my cheeks and it has definitely helped. It leaves my skin glowing and has brightened those dark areas on my cheeks. I do want to purchase the Hyaluronic Acid too as I’ve heard that’s supposed to be amazing. I have also recently been using the Pixi Glow Tonic which I put on in a morning and that has definitely brightened my skin too.

Moisturiser

With moisturiser I tend to stick to the same products that I have used for a while. After using The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying Lotion for about a year to improve my skin I moved onto The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser. I can’t even tell you how much I love this. Not only does the smell remind me of being on holiday but the glow it gives you makes you feel like you’ve actually been on holiday. And I think we all need a bit of that right now.

SPF

SPF was one thing I never really considered before. Of course, when I went on holiday, I would put a high SPF on my face however, I didn’t think it was needed in this country and I certainly didn’t think it should be part of your daily skincare routine. However, after reading Caroline Hirons’ book on all things skincare I learnt how it is actually such a vital part of your skincare routine. Nowadays I don’t go a day without it. I currently use the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream with SPF 50 and I love it. It makes your skin feel super hydrated while protecting against UVA and UVB rays. Amazing.

Masks

Like with moisturiser I tend to use the same face masks repeatedly once I have found one that works with my skin and at the moment that is the L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Blemish Rescue Mask. I use this 1-2 times a week and it has without a doubt improved my skin. Like everyone my skin has good days and bad days but this definitely helps to unclog those pores when needs be.

So, that's my skincare favourites at the moment. Like I said I still want to improve my skincare routine and these products might not suit everyone. But I do hope this helps if you are struggling with where to start as the whole world of skincare can be a very confusing place.

Thanks for reading!
