S/S 21 TRENDS: THE SWEATER SAFETY BLANKET

As we slowly adjust back to a new normal, we may find ourselves clutching onto our comfies and avoiding our normal clothes. So how does wearing a sweater as an accessory sound? It’s the perfect solution. You can wear a normal outfit, trousers, a shirt and a blazer and add a sweater around your shoulders for that perfect, comfy-chic look. One of the biggest trends of the season. A sweater as a safety blanket.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve seen more and more of this trend on my Instagram feed, and I love it. It makes an outfit look so effortlessly chic, yet it’s a creature comfort too. Let’s have a look through some ways to style this trend.

Here are some of my favourite looks using this trend. First of all we have @withameliataylor styling a black sweater with a floral dress. Such an amazing spring outfit. And the tulips. Obsessed. Next we have @jessalizzi with a gorgeous staple outfit paired with another black sweater. I love Jess' minimalistic style and the sweater makes a simple outfit into a super chic look. And finally we have @mvb styling an all black outfit with a grey sweater draped across her shoulders. Super stylish. I love the look of the blazer with the sweater and it adds another colour to the outfit.
